Manila flooding September 26, 2009

Manila is experiencing torrential rains and the Makati area is flooding quite badly. From my high rise, I can see many cars attempting to drive with water up to the top of their windows, and others ‘swimming’ in the waters – literally floating without any ability to steer. I’ve just taken photos and video with my Canon 5D mk II. I’ll be posting the video soon, but here are a few photos taken from a much lower vantage point:Read more

Solar eclipse as seen from Jakarta

Java, Indonesia experienced a solar eclipse January 26, 2009 which just happened to coincide with the Chinese New Year. Unfortunately I didn’t have my lenses or my Canon 5D mk II. Had to make due with my 40D and an 85mm with no filters or special equipment. Hope I didn’t damage my sensor! Canon 40D | 85mm @ f/10 | 1/2000 sec | ISO 100Read more

Canon 5D Mark II – My new baby

Canon EOS 5D Mark II: My new baby. Will have to sell my 5D and keep the 40D as a backup. Amazing camera, thoroughly impressed. Played around with ISO 6400, and the full HD movies. That’s a whole new world for me – I have lots to learn. If anyone is interested in my Canon 5D, please email me. I’ll post a proper article soon with pics and more detailed info about the sale. Smoky Mountain Woman

Novita and I visited the Smoky Mountains today, near Gatlinburg, Tennessee. She’s been enjoying the 40D that I surprised her with last month almost as much as I’m enjoying my new 35mm 1.4L. I very well may turn into a bokeh whore soon with this new glass. Absolutely loving it. Canon 5D | 35mm f/1.4L | @f/1.4 | 1/125Read more

Self portrait: staring at the sun

Rare self-portrait. Novita says I look ‘serem’; (mean) in this one. Taken yesterday with the sun to my back filtering through the window, bouncing off a mirror with me holding my Canon 5D off to the side and hoping for sharp focus. Handheld / existing light with Novita yellin at me to hurry up and get in the car. Larger Photoblog versionRead more
