I’ll be away for a few days. We’re heading down to the south coast of Java to get some surf and sun. It doesn’t feel like Christmas with 85 degrees and no snow, but at least part of my family is here. I should be returning to Jakarta before heading to Bali (hopefully). I’ll be reconsidering the direction of my site when I return, mainly in my writing, but I’ll be sure to keep up the images. Perhaps some ofRead more

State of Who's Union?
I guess once again, both of my “homes” are in the world’s spotlight. President Bush had the courtesy of naming them in Tuesday’s State of the Union Address. We made the top of the list apparently by order of threat. “Our greatest responsibility is the active defense of the American people. Twenty-eight months have passed since September the 11th, 2001 – over two years without an attack on American soil – and it is tempting to believe that the dangerRead more
My Own Domain and Web Host
Finally, I’ve set up a web host, with plenty of space and a real domain name! I’m pretty pumped to start my own site – hopefully better organized, faster loading, and more complete. If you would like to see the beginnings, check it out. http://www.thejavajive.com I know it’s not perfect, but I am continually improving it. Somehow,Read more
People Are People – the World Over
Well, anyone who is reading this may notice that I haven’t written in almost 5 months! It’s not because I’m lazy, bored, or losing creativity. I simply needed to stand back and gain some perspectives in everything that is happening. It’s been a pretty amazing year with arriving, having the Bali bombing, traveling, experiencing the Iraq situation from a Muslim country, and even everyday life. I believe some of my views have changed, and my perspectives seem a bit moreRead more
In The Beginning, There Was… Bali?
To tell you more about why I’m in Indonesia, guess I have to give a little bit of a background. I finished my degree last April, after 7 years of studying engineering. I combined engineering, fine arts, and business to build a degree called Industrial Design. No I don’t design factories; I design cars, products, electronics, motorcycles, boats, architectural structures, etc. Anything you see around you has to be designed by someone – the way it looks, feels, and interactsRead more
