Chimera: Tea Plantations Exposed in the Foreground

Sometimes there’s so much beauty in the world I feel like I can’t take it, like my heart’s going to cave in.

– Ricky Fitts, American Beauty

The same image as yesterday, but this was better exposed for the tea plantation in the foreground. I think I like this version much better. I hope to make a 40cm x 60cm print of this later in the week if all goes well.

I feel like so much of my time here is spent capturing people and human interest that I rarely have taken the time to do landscapes. I know that when I do return to the States, the immense variety in mountains, desert, rolling hills, and cityscapes will be at my disposal, but I’d still like to see what I can do with the Indonesian countryside.

These few moments brought back powerful memories of other places and other times. The incredible smell of dew on the grass, the musk of rich soil, and the complete solitude that comes from escaping the fact that I live on the most densely populated island in the world.
