Photography Bliss!

We hit a jackpot of vibrant colors today in the hills of Tampaksiring, north of Ubud. 500 photos later, I’m exhausted but very pleased with the resulting shots. We stopped at the water temple (forgot the formal name) and the ceremony taking place was phenomenal – hundreds of participants, dancing and each taking part in their own way. It looks like it’ll be weeks or maybe months before I wade through the thousands of images taken on this trip!

Our car has tagged around 900 kilometers (500 miles) already, covering most of the island, except for the remote west coast. Travels have included day trips to the following: Lake Batur, Lake Braten, Lovina, Candidasa, Abang, Sideman, Kuta, Uhluwatu (sp?), Ubud, Singaraja, Denpasar, Sanur, Tegal Besar, Jimbaran, and everything between.

We’ll leave Ubud on Wed to head to Candi Dasa – probably the Rama Candi Dasa – seemed like a nice place when we dropped by last week. After 4-5 days of that we’ll be heading back to Jakarta (probably around the 8th or 9th).

We’ve met some truly wonderful people this trip – more about them later. It’s a bummer to part ways, but we can always hope to cross paths again!

Thanks for the comments and emails relating your holiday wishes. Even though I’ve been short on posting, I’m able to check email with some regularity.

Happy New Year!
