Detroit diamonds

An article about my cousin:

Diamonds scatter the pavement of Detroit’s side streets, alleys and avenues. They scatter the dark ground and sparkle like stars on a blackened sky. They are a silent testament to the violence, cruelty and crime of the city.

And Lindsay Satchell has spent hours collecting, cleaning, sifting and sorting the diamonds. She’s picked through the filth and debris like a smuggler, caring for it like the dirtiest blood diamond.
