Bali in Black

I’m starting to go through the hundreds of shots taken on two days of shooting in Bali. I find it difficult at times to capture the scenes without giving off a feeling of “been there, seen that”. I can’t help but take some typical tourist shots – I can only hope that, at times, I’ll find something a bit different or a new way of seeing something.
The problem now is that my brother has been with me, taking in the same sights. Why is this a problem? Because we’ve taken many of the same photos, and I don’t want him to feel as if we’re “stealing” each others images.
More to come.

If you are looking for ideas, one thing to do is to pick a theme or a problem and then think how you could express that through photography. It´s the inverse route, instead of going to the site and looking for pictures there, you think about something and then go to look for pictures that express it or tell a story. You can do both at the same time too!
I thought you were kind of doing this with the children photos, the joy of childhood. You can do serious themes, cultural themes, and just esthetic themes too. If you know all this, didn´t mean to say stuff you already knew, just trying to suggest a way to develop a project.

Hmmm, I think “typical tourist shots” are of tourists, posing as tiny smiling specks in front of local buildings and attractions. I think it’s safte to say that yours are not that. Keep the good photos coming.
